Help

From opening a file to downloading an edited copy

1. Open a file

Select Open file in the workspace or drop a file. Each document is limited to 25 MB, open originals to 50 MB total, and open documents to 5. Text editing supports up to 5 MB. Opening stops if the file content does not match its extension.

2. Use the appropriate editor

Text editing modifies the source directly. JSON, JSONL and XML can be checked using Validate syntax without automatic formatting. For CSV/TSV, select a cell and edit it in the input above. XLSX accepts cell values and formulas beginning with =. DOCX provides basic paragraph and table editing.

After basic body editing, DOCM can only be converted to macro-free DOCX; after basic cell editing, XLS, XLSM and XLSB can only be converted to XLSX. Saving the original format and preserving macros are unavailable, and macros are never executed. Download requires acknowledgement of original formatting, object and link losses.

3. Download a new file

Select Download edited copy or press Ctrl/⌘+S. Limited conversions require reading and acknowledging the changes. Generated output is reopened to validate structure and content before download. The download location follows your browser settings. Reopen the downloaded file to verify it was actually saved.

Format limitations

DOCX creates a new edited copy focused on basic paragraph formatting and tables. Imported images, headers and tracked changes may not be preserved. XLSX calculates only SUM, AVERAGE, MIN, MAX, COUNT, arithmetic, parentheses and same-sheet A1 references. Unsupported formulas are marked uncalculated and their caches are not used. Structural changes are blocked when formulas exist. PDF provides page tools, not general body-text editing.

Encoding and CSV

UTF-8 is the default for reading and export. If UTF-8 reading fails, EUC-KR reading may be selected, but export converts to UTF-8. UTF-16 and rewriting legacy Korean encodings are unsupported. Exact CSV data export preserves even formula-like values. To prevent formulas from running in external spreadsheet apps, choose Spreadsheet-safe export, which changes such values.

Shortcuts and text input

Ctrl/⌘+Z: Undo · Windows Ctrl+Y / macOS ⌘+Shift+Z: Redo · Ctrl/⌘+F: Find in document. Use these inside the editor. See shortcut help and settings for supported format-specific commands and customization. Editing shortcuts are not intercepted during input-method composition.

PDF forms and Hangul documents

Supported AcroForm PDFs allow filling text fields, checkboxes and single-selection dropdowns. Use Preview entered values to check Korean text appearances, then download the form PDF. Original pages are preserved and page tools are locked for form documents. Signatures, XFA, actions and unsupported forms are read-only.

Create a basic HWPX from the new-document menu. Imported HWPX supports editing only existing text fragments. HWP provides body reading, TXT extraction and HWPX text regeneration, which places the body into ordinary paragraphs. The separate HWPX text-box structure conversion creates only the body, coordinates and size of unrotated paper-relative rectangular text boxes in a single section with one outer paragraph. Tables, images, fields, rotation and groups block conversion. Neither path guarantees original formatting or precise layout, and both require loss acknowledgement.

Additional documents and images

ODT and ODP modify existing text fragments while preserving other original package parts. Layout previews are unavailable. ODS edits only basic values and converts to XLSX; imported OpenFormula, dates, times and merges are rejected.

EPUB 2/3 provides chapter selection and table-of-contents navigation for reading body text and extracting all text as TXT. Original EPUB editing and rewriting are unavailable. RTF reads and edits ANSI-1252, Windows-949 and Unicode body text, extracts TXT and regenerates new Unicode RTF. RTF regeneration includes only text, tabs and line breaks; original formatting, images, objects and fields are not preserved. Download requires acknowledgement of these losses.

PNG, JPG/JPEG, WebP, GIF and uncompressed BMP support image viewing and single-page PDF conversion. The long edge is reduced to at most 4,096 pixels and transparency is composited onto white. GIF and animated WebP include only the first frame. SVG supports source editing/export and safe previews/raster PDF conversion for basic shapes/text, internal gradients, limited CSS and embedded PNG/JPEG (8-bit non-interlaced RGB/RGBA PNG and grayscale/RGB JPEG). Scripts, events, external resources, use, filters and animation are excluded.

Edit legacy Word DOC

Edits the main-body text of verified Word 97 DOC files and downloads TXT or a new text-only DOCX. Original DOC, table structure, formatting, images, headers, footnotes and layout are not restored. Stored text may include hidden or tracked text because display states are not interpreted. DOCX regeneration requires loss acknowledgement. Korean DOC reading and additional FIB versions are unverified; DOCX output after editing Korean text and emoji was verified separately.

PPT and Apple documents

Legacy PPT reads and edits current slide body text and regenerates TXT or a new text-only PPTX. Original layout, images, formatting and notes are not restored. PPTM converts edited body text to PPTX with macros removed. Original PPT/PPTM export is unavailable.

Verified 2013 IWA packages for Pages, Numbers and Keynote provide separate views of one embedded JPEG and actual body text. Use Read body text to search and extract TXT from the Pages main body/supported text boxes, current Keynote slide shape text and stored Numbers table values. Numbers formulas are not recalculated. Original Apple editing/export, full-layout restoration and PDF conversion are unavailable.

HWPX body images

View body images displays original embedded PNG/JPEG images referenced by the actual body separately. Image position, cropping, rotation, effects and full document layout are not reproduced. Validation is limited to 32 images per section and 25 MB/40 million pixels in total; the long edge is reduced to at most 4,096 pixels. External, damaged or unsupported images are not displayed, while body text and original parts are retained. Verified documents preserve image bytes and settings after text editing. Hancom app validation has not been run.
